Domaine de Couron 2024 Little Canyon Rouge•Ardèche, France • Reg $18.99 | 25% OFF = $14.24
Grench-Syrah. 50/50. Nose: blueberries, black raspberries. Not earthy. Just fruit. Flavors: blackberries all the way to the finish. It’s the acidity. Note of orange rind. Great, fresh, fruity wine. But not sweet. It’s French.
JENS’ TOP PICKS
Every month Portalis owner Jens Strecker picks 8-12 wines that he thinks are outstanding … for any reason he chooses. Here are his March Picks — made with early spring in mind.
Chateau d'Or et de Gueules 2022 Les Cimels Rouge•Southern Rhône, France • Reg $16.99 | Mixed Case $13.59
Costières de Nimes blend of Syrah, Carignan, Grenache. 60/30/10. Super inviting nose. Spicy, herbal aromas with lots of red fruit. Juicy & rich but elegant. Flavors of raspberries, strawberries, dark cherries with herbal notes. Spicy, peppery finish. Medium- to lighter in body. Fantastic value! Would be great with so many dishes: pizza, burgers, grilled & roasted meats, but light enough for veggie pasta.
Vincent Wengier 2023 Chablis • Burgundy, France • Reg $39.99 | Mixed Case $31.99
100% unoaked Chardonnay. Classic Chablis nose. Flinty, minerally, chalky, citrus-lime fruit. A little lighter-bodied, but full of flavor: orchard fruits, citrus & lots of minerals. Great wine for the money.
Cantina Settecani Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro Amabile • Emila-Romagna, Italy • Reg $14.99 | Mixed Case $11.99

“A classic and very expressive Pinot Grigio, bright straw yellow in colour with an attractive aroma of citrus fruits, peach, honeydew melon and especially pear; medium rich, fruity, well-structured and direct on the palate with orchard fruit flavours and tangy, fruity acidity on the finish.” —winery notes.
