Our knowledgeable wine team is always here to share as much (or as little) as you’d like to know about the wines, winemakers and regions we’re featuring. Hope you can join us!
Our weekly tasting runs 12-3pm on Saturdays. Cost is $15. The tasting fee is waived with a purchase of any wine in the shop (not just tasting wines).

May Top Picks
Saturday, May 2 (12-3pm)
Every month Portalis owner Jens Strecker selects his favorite wines for the season, and on the first Saturday of the month, we taste a selection of those wines.
For May, join us to taste: Cascina del Pozzo Roero Arneis (white from Piedmont), Simonsig Chenin Blanc (Stellenbosch, South Africa), Routas Provence Rosé, Ancient Peaks Zinfandel (Paso Robles) & Bodegas Norton Privada Red Blend (Malbec-Cab-Merlot from Mendoza).
Cost is $15. (Fee waived with the purchase of any wine in the shop.)
May Wine Club – Pickup Tasting

Join us to taste the wines in our May Wine Clubs. We have two: Portalis EXPLORES Wine Club (our everyday wine club) and our Portalis FLAGSHIP Wine Club (our premier club).
We’ll announce the monthly wines once we let our club members know on the first of the month. Stay tuned…
This pickup tasting is for our club members to taste and learn about their wines prior to enjoying them at home. Everyone is welcome to join.

Blind Tasting
Saturday, May 16 (12-3pm)
Join us to taste 5 single varietals — blind! We’ll have the bottles wrapped so you can taste side-by-side, without preconceived ideas! (Don’t worry. We won’t make you guess. It’s all for fun… and education!)

Wines for Grill Parties
Saturday, May 23 (12-3pm)
Memorial Day is early this year: Monday, May 25. Join us to taste a selection of wines under $20 that would taste great with grilled fare on (hopefully) a warm, sunny day: tbd.

Food & Wine 101 — Lesson 3: SALT
Saturday, May 30 (12-3pm)
Every year we try and do a series on the basics of food & wine pairing. We do this by exploring the 4 main food elements (acid, fat, salt, sweet) with the basic wine elements (acid, tannins & residual sugar as well as the impact of oak, alcohol, color & body). Sounds complicated, but it’s not. With a few basic rules, you’ll be golden!
This month theme is salt, and we’re going experience how different wine elements taste with high-salt foods (namely olives & prezels). Join to taste 5 wines: …tbd.
