100% Chardonnay (with 1-year in French oak) from a 190-year old estate outside of Beaune with 10 generations of family ownership. Limestone soils show up on the nose — chalk, limestone, pears, apple. Fantastically aromatic wine! Super well-balanced. Super complex. Flavors = pears, apples, citrus, lime. Acidity is good but in the background. Finish has limestone soil with a tiny note of butterscotch on the finish.

Les Mourres is a cru site sitting in the shadows of the famed Dentelles, a small but dramatic limestone mountain range in the Vaucluse (to the east of Gigondas & Sablet). Bois des Mourres is essentially a stricter selection of the winery’s old vine “Les Mourres” Gigondas grapes. As well, this wine is barrel-aged as opposed to aging in concrete tanks.
80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 single use, 1/3 used twice). Beautiful garnet color. The nose is rich with notes of spices, licorice, and roasted plums. The palate is velvety, round, with well-integrated tannins and a nice fresh, persistence finish. –winery notes.

Palate adds in yellow plums. Finish has fine citrus-lime and the earthiness returns. Lovely wine. Give it an hour open if you can for the flavors to come out. Great with spicy Asian dishes. We enjoyed with a spicy curry, and it was great.

Flavors add in black cherries and dark plums, but it is light and fresh with pretty low acidity. Has a refreshingly bitter note on the finish like a cocktail. Great wine.

Great acidity. Not a powerful Zin. It’s just an easy, delicious, soft wine. Flavors raspberries, blackberries, red & dark cherries with beautiful, peppery notes — but subtle. A LOT of wine for the money.

The winery only cultivates Mencia, but their old-vine vineyards have small amounts of other indigenous grapes growing alongside the Mencia that get included in this field blend: Mencia 91%, Palomino 4%, Alicante Bouchet 1%, Gran Negro 1%, Malvasia 1%, Negreda 1%, Valenciana 1%. Organic. Biodynamic. Ten months in French oak.
Earthy, herbal, spicy nose followed by blueberries & a note of anise. Palate adds in more blue fruit: mulberries, marionberries. Complex. Medium+ bodied. Great acidy, which carries this wine to the finish. Jens: I haven’t tasted a “wow” Mencia like this in a long time. Open 2 hours ahead of drinking if you can for the full, complex nose. Pairings? This wine has more life!! So delicious.

The winery says to enjoy with "a fish terrine, salmon tartare, seasoned fish or even a mid-dry goat’s cheese."

100% Lemberger = Blaufränkisch. The nose is just killing it! Like you kicked the soccer ball into the raspberry patch and when you fish it out, you have to eat a few. Kind of earthy, kind of smokey. Super sexy. Palate changes: blackberry, plums. (If you like Pflaumenmousse [German plum butter, like apple butter but with plums] in a non-sweet way?? This is your wine.) Medium+ bodied. Such a feat for WA State! Not super dry. Not super acidic. But superb balance. Jens: What a wine!! Don’t miss this one.

Concentrated yet packed with cool blueberry and cola. Still quite massy, the tannins are to the fore, but they’re fine rather than overly chewy or plush.
