The Parpinello Family

SARDINIA

After the end of World War II, a young Giampaolo Parpinello started picking grapes for his father, Louis, in Veneto. After studying at the School of Viticulture and Enology of Conegliano, he headed to Sardinia to work to work as a winemaker. In the mid-1960’s, he struck out on his own with his own land.

Today Giampaolo Parpinello’s three adult children, Laura, Giusi and Paolo (pictured with him above) run the estate. They cultivate 30 hectares of land in the locality of Janna de Mare, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards that stretch out on a terrain of calcareous marne, conglomerate and sandstone, the perfect combination to ensure excellent quality wines. They have invested in a state of the art winery that in combination with years of growing expertise preserves the authentic flavors of this ancient land.

The Parpinello winery is located about 50 minutes west of Sassari in the northwest corner of the island of Sardinia.

We carry their: Torbato (fuller-bodied white from Alghero), Cannonau (Grenache), Cannonau Riserva & Cagnulari (an ancient red grape still grown in Sardinia in very small amounts).

Highly recommended!
